Two weeks ago, “C.A.R. learned that Glide Labs, Inc. was in the process of being acquired by Compass. C.A.R. immediately informed members of this news. That transaction is now official and has closed without C.A.R.’s consent.
“With this change in ownership, C.A.R. remains concerned about privacy, data security, and operational control. As a result, C.A.R. has terminated its member benefit agreement with Glide, and that software will no longer be provided to C.A.R. members as part of the dues. We are disappointed in this outcome so early in the roll out of Glide as a new member benefit.
In an effort to minimize disruption for our members, C.A.R. and Glide are in discussions for a seven-day period to determine what’s best for C.A.R. members moving forward. During this period, C.A.R. members will be able to access Glide.
Irrespective of the outcome of these discussions, C.A.R. members will be able to download or move all transactions and related forms from the Glide platform for 90 days.
Protecting members’ best interests has always been C.A.R.’s focus, and we are committed to avoiding even the appearance of favoritism for any one member of C.A.R.
“CRMLS has just been advised that the California Association of REALTORS® (C.A.R.) has announced it is altering its relationship with Glide. C.A.R. has decided to no longer pay for REALTORS® use of the Glide platform. Glide will still be a CRMLS user benefit, and at this time, C.A.R. forms will remain available through Glide and the CRMLS system.
“We understand that many in our community have voiced concerns that Glide’s recent sale to Compass may impact your willingness to use the product. We listened to those concerns very closely. We have provisions within our contract with Glide that safeguard your data and have added new provisions that include a third-party privacy company that will watch over both Glide and Compass to make sure no breaches in our data policies occur.”
What this means for CRMLS Users:
• C.A.R. forms will remain in the Glide platform for the time being
• The “Submit offer using Glide” button, available to most CRMLS users, will remain in the MLS systems (Matrix, Paragon, and Flex)
• PEAD forms, which are required for showings during the COVID-19 pandemic, will still be available in Glide
• Any transactions you have in process with Glide should not be affected
More details may soon follow if/when C.A.R. and Glide agree on the forms license.
