Thieves Pose as SCE to Scam Locals
Callers pretending to be employees of SoCal Edison (SCE), the electricity utility, have stolen almost $300,000 from 433 customers this year by threatening to shut off their power over unpaid bills, including a Rancho Cucamonga business owner.

Sales Comparison – Compared to the same week in 2019, there were 4.1% more home sales over Thanksgiving this year. The data shows that annualized growth averaged double-digits throughout November, so the monthly figures are likely to be up by more than 20% again this month. The number of new mortgage purchase applications was up 28.1% from the same week in 2019. (C.A.R.)
Home Hackers – Unlike your business Wi-Fi, many telecommuters are lax about creating secure wireless networks–leaving a backdoor open to hackers. Wi-Fi signals often broadcast beyond your home and out into the streets. Drive-by hacking is popular among cybercriminals today. A few tips for securing your home office Wi-Fi access points:
• Use stronger encryption and a more complex password
• Hide your wireless network name
• Use a firewall
Agent Sexual Harassment – A client can sue an agent for sexual harassment much more easily since recent changes that have lowered the bar. The deadline is Jan. 1, 2021 for the mandatory Sexual Harassment Prevention Training for all employees and supervisors. (Click for C.A.R. Training)
