Judge Allows Exide to Abandon Property
Exide Technologies can abandon its heavily contaminated battery recycling plant in Vernon and stop paying for environmental protections preventing the spread of toxic dust to neighboring cities as soon as Oct. 30, a federal judge ruled this month. READ MORE
Retail Into Housing in Whittier?
A proposed new general plan for Whittier would allow housing at higher densities, allowing for the potential development in the city of more than 6,000 new housing units over the next 25 years.

Buying ‘Season’ – California’s home-buying season extended further into September as home sales climbed to their highest level in more than a decade, and the median home price set another high for the fourth straight month, the CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® said this week. (C.A.R.)
New High – The statewide median price hit another new high after setting records in June, July and August. California’s median home price exceeded the $700,000 mark for the second consecutive month, as it reached $712,430 in September, edging up 0.8 percent from August’s $706,900 and jumping 17.6 percent from $605,680 in September 2019.
