Investors Expect January ‘Carnage’
As millions of homeowners have fallen behind on their mortgage payments and may be at risk of losing their homes once eviction moratoriums end, the Wall Street Journal reports that landlords are waiting for a “potential bonanza” of distressed properties as well as the emergence of a new wave of renters.
Montclair Plan a Blueprint for Future?
The Montclair City Council approved a plan to transform Montclair Place into a 104-acre mixed-use district encompassing roughly 5 million square feet of residential space that would create a new downtown for Montclair.
Fraud Alert – Fannie Mae issued a fraud alert to lenders on Tuesday, Oct. 6, warning about income misrepresentation involving Southern California mortgage brokers and service industry applicants. (OC Register)
Growth Prediction – With unemployment expected to remain elevated throughout the remainder of the year, CoreLogic predicts home price growth will slow over the next 12 months and mortgage delinquencies will continue to rise. These factors combined could lead to an increase of distressed-sale inventory, which could put downward pressure on home prices and negatively impact home equity. (RIS Media)
Fixed Rates: The 30-year fixed-rate averaged 2.87%, down one basis point from the previous week. The 15-year fixed-rate averaged 2.37%, up one basis point. (Freddie Mac)
Keller Williams Shuffle – The company announced last Wednesday the co-founder Gary Keller is stepping down as CEO and the company is creating a separate holding company and giving its leadership structure a complete makeover. (Real Deal)
Flood Extension – Last week, a bill that included a full-year extension of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and surface transportation funding was signed into law. Census Count – A full count in each county means the proper share of dollars for roads, schools, etc. Fill out the Census here!
