IE Double the Late Payers
In Riverside and San Bernardino counties, 336,000 adults live in households that are behind on rent due in the last week of August, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. That’s 30% of all Inland Empire tenants and almost twice the rate in Los Angeles and Orange counties where 537,000 who live in rentals were late payers – 17% of all tenants.READ MORE
HUD Alters Fair Housing Rule
HUD officially repealed the 2015 Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (AFFH) rule, replacing it with a rule titled “Preserving Community and Neighborhood Choice.”
According to a HUD primer, the AFFH rule provided a framework for local governments, states, and public housing agencies to follow through on pre-existing AFFH legislation.

Cities Report – Sept. 2020
Chino launches an app; Chino Hills moves toward issuing parking tickets; Claremont name change; Amazon grocery in La Verne; Pomona makes its own power, and California propositions that impact the real estate industry, are among the topics in the latest Cities Report from CVAR Government Affairs Director Bill Ruh.
REALTORS® Strong: Consistent with the improving macro environment, more California REALTORS® saw their business prospects improve to finish September. The number of respondents with a listing appointment increased 1.0%, listings on the MLS increased 9.7%, and the percentage of members entering escrow jumped 18.4%. The percentage of REALTORS® that closed a transaction last week also increased by 18.9%. (C.A.R.)
Opendoor Public – The well-funded iBuying startup Opendoor is officially set to go public after merging with Social Capital Hedosophia Holdings Corp. II. The public listing will give Opendoor an estimated $1 billion influx of capital, which the company plans to use to grow market share in existing markets, expand to new markets and launch new products with the goal of becoming a “one-stop-shop” for consumers.
