Sept. 18 ADU Deadline – Is your client a homeowner with a vacant accessory dwelling unit (ADU) and looking for a qualified tenant? Applications to the LA ADU Accelerator Program, a one-stop-shop for homeowners interested in renting their ADUs, pairs older adults with homeowners willing to offer their ADUs as affordable rentals. In exchange, homeowners receive benefits such as qualified tenant referrals, tenant case management, and stable rental payments. Visit adu.lacity.org to apply before Sept. 18 for priority review.
Housing Market – Nearly all indicators point to a hot housing market: Historically low mortgage rates, rising mortgage applications, first-time homebuyers are up, and thanks to a combination of low inventory and low rates, the luxury markets across the country have soared. The only downer comes from the Realtor.com weekly housing market report, which indicated a decline in buyer demand and a modest rise in inventory. Is it a hiccup or a trend? Time will tell. (Inman News)
Profits Soar – Independent mortgage bank (IMB) loan profits skyrocket in second quarter, with IMBs and mortgage subsidiaries of chartered banks reporting a net gain of $4,548 per loan during the second quarter, nearly three times the production profit of $1,600 per loan in the first quarter.
