The polls open today, June 6, at 9 a.m., through next Wednesday, June 15, at 4 p.m., but you can also vote at the Meet the Candidates Forum & BBQ on Friday, June 10, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. A free BBQ is available to REALTOR® members who vote at CVAR headquarters in Glendora. The forum of candidates for the CVAR Board of Directors will be live-streamed to our offices at CVAR West and East, and a free lunch will be provided at each of these locations. Polls are also open for online voting June 6, 9 a.m. (PST) to June 15, 4 p.m. (PST).

REALTORS®: Do You Know How to Protect Yourself?
“It was not the first time a real estate agent had been robbed or murdered while showing a home,” said N.A.R. rep Nick D’Ambrosia. But the conviction in the murder of REALTOR® Beverly Carter “sparked a new wave of determination nationwide to increase awareness and promote REALTOR® safety.”
On Thursday, CVAR hosts a free REALTOR® Safety course at CVAR West, 1170 Durfee Ave., Ste A, South El Monte (across from McDonald’s and next to the LA County Assessor) from 10 a.m. to noon. Among the topics to be covered are safety practices when holding an open house, in the office or on the road, and when online or advertising yourself on social media.
The course will also cover what types of personal protection are available, and this week, during Member Appreciation Month, personal safety items are discounted in all three of the CVAR locations, including pepper spray, stun guns and alarms.

Summer Kickoff June 16

NAR Fights Back Against ‘Patent Troll’
The NAR has filed a petition with the U.S. Patent Office challenging patent infringement claims by companies that demand payment from real estate companies for “old and widely available” technology. “With this action, we’re telling the company and other patent trolls that our industry won’t tolerate these kinds of tactics against innocent real estate professionals who use well-known, ordinary technologies and business methods.” READ MORE
