Who’s Deserving? CVAR Award Nominations
We are currently accepting applications for:
- REALTOR® of the Year – The purpose of this prestigious award is to recognize a member of our association who has provided outstanding service to the real estate profession and the community through their membership in the Citrus Valley Association of REALTORS®.
- Honorary Member for Life – Honorary membership may be conferred upon a nominee who has given exemplary service to uphold the reputation of the Citrus Valley Association of REALTORS®, and who has also completed at least two of following: Is a past president; at least 65 years old; at least 20 years of membership in the association/merged association/board.
- Affiliate of the Year – The purpose of this award is to recognize an affiliate member of our association who has provided outstanding service to the real estate profession and to the community through their membership in the Citrus Valley Association of REALTORS®.
- Community Service Award – The Citrus Valley Association of REALTORS® Community Service Award recognizes REALTORS® who have made an extraordinary impact on their community, or on the national or world stage, through volunteer work. In addition to the application, such as the one for the REALTOR® of the Year Award, this application includes an essay or letter.
The awards will be presented at the Board of Directors Installation Breakfast on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016, at the Glendora Country Club. All applications must be submitted on or before Nov. 7, 2016.
More than 36,000 REALTOR® members in our state are not registered to vote. With the upcoming presidential election on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016, you can register to vote through today, Oct. 24. If you’ve moved or need to vote by mail, you can easily register online. REGISTER HERE
The last day to submit an application for a Vote By Mail Ballot is Nov. 1, 2016. All registered voters in California can vote early. CVAR has voter registration material and Voter Bill of Rights available at all three CVAR locations.
Not all buyers are following the small-home trend. In fact, the desire to go big is growing again. The share of new homes built with 5,000 square feet or more is on the uptick, according to Census Bureau Survey of Construction data. READ MORE
Why Some Buyers Are Holding Back
New data from NeighborWorks America’s fourth annual housing survey found that nearly one-third (30 percent) of Americans know someone who has delayed the purchase of a home because of student loan debt, up from 28 percent in 2015 and just 24 percent in 2014.
The data also cited that more than half (53 percent) of potential home buyers with student loan debt said the debt was somewhat or very much an obstacle to buying a home, down slightly from 57 percent in 2015, but above the 49 percent rate in 2014. READ MORE
